This OFW in Dubai Complains About Her Balikbayan Box Sent Via LBC Express Inc. That Had Missing Items!
Being an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) means living a hard and lonely life. OFWs work very hard so that they can provide for their families who are living here in the Philippines. Sometimes, the fruits of their labor come in the form of a Balikbayan box.
A Balikbayan box typically contains a large number of items that an OFW wishes to send home to their loved ones. OFWs choose to send imported goods in bulk as the Bureau of Customs (BOC) set expensive tax prices on materials that come from abroad. Sending a package bit by bit will just be too costly for the hardworking Pinoys working overseas.
If you can recall, the BOC made headlines before as a lot of OFWs complained that the boxes they are sending to their families here in the country were missing a few objects, most of which were quite expensive. Designer bags, shoes, perfumes, and chocolates are among the many items that disappeared during transit.
This issue eventually died down over time until one woman complained recently that the Balikbayan box she sent to her family had been ransacked.
Anj Amabao, an OFW working in Dubai, took to Facebook to reveal what LBC, a notable courier company, did to the items inside the package she sent to her family. According to Anj, she sent the package from Dubai to Leyte expecting it to arrive at their house here in the Philippines before she does. Some OFWs choose to send their excess baggage via Balikbayan boxes when they go back home since airports charge large amounts for any excess baggage that they carry aboard the plane.
Upon arriving home, Anj was surprised that the package still hasn’t arrived. When it finally did, she was shocked to find a lot of its contents were missing. On top of that, the items were all messed up, far from how she arranged it prior to sending it. She said:
In a fit of rage, Anj posted a status on her Facebook as a shout out to LBC. She said:
“Hoy LBC EXPRESS INC.!!! Nagpapackage kami ng pinsan ko from Dubai to Leyte. Mga dishwashing liquid, pati ung nutella na palaman, at ung mga ibang groceries bukas which is nakasealed to lahat.
