This Was the Last Message That Private Cardona Sent to His Lover After Volunteering to Go to Marawi City!
More and more soldiers are being deployed to Marawi City in Mindanao following the Maute terrorist group’s attack on the city and razed terror all throughout. Among all of these brave and gallant soldiers, Private Cardona was a special case.
GMA News Online reported that Marine Private First Class Eddie Cardona Jr. asked his commanding officer if he could go to Marawi City. He chose to go into the thick of battle just to help out his comrades. Unfortunately, he was one of those soldiers who were killed in action.
The report noted that the soldier would always post pictures of himself on social media to let his relatives and family know that he was safe.
Private Cardona initially wanted to be a pedicab driver. However, due to financial reasons, he ended up serving as a soldier in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Private Cardona’s grandmother, Eunesa Castrense, mentioned that her grandson was very dedicated to his duties and responsibilities. She said in an interview:
“Talagang doon na lang ang buhay. Ang dasal ko sa Panginoon, na sana ano siya…”
